The Weight
“The Weight” pushes glass to the limits of it’s material properties and strengths. Casted lead crystal nuts and bolts threaded through a slumped glass bracket support the weight of concrete and chain. This work suspends reality and aims to create a feeling of wonderment, causing the viewer to question their assumptions, or perhaps it induces stress and fear that the sculpture could fall from the ceiling at any moment. Occasional swaying of the pendulum and creaking of the ceiling act as a reminder that the glass hardware is supporting a very real and active load.
