Wait, can you hold this?

“Wait, can you hold this?” showcases the underestimated strength of glass in tension. Casted lead crystal nuts and bolts secure slumped glass brackets to opposing walls, and together they simultaneously stretch and support the resistance of 3 large elastic bands. This work suspends reality and creates a feeling of wonderment, causing the viewer to question their assumptions about glass, or perhaps it induces stress and tension within the viewer who may fear the bands could snap or the glass hardware could fail at any moment. Occasional visible stretching of the bands and creaking of the wall brackets act as a reminder that the glass hardware is both creating and supporting an active force.
